Clermont Lions Club to Host Festival & Rodeo
CLERMONT, Indiana — The longest running rodeo in Indiana returns this weekend in Clermont.
Saturday, September 15 the Clermont Lions Club will put on the 68th Annual Clermont Parade and Festival followed by the Clermont Rodeo.
Parade entrants will register at the Spirit of Life Church on Raceway Road at 9 am. Meanwhile, vendors of all sorts will be setting up their booths in the Lions Club Park.
The Grand Marshal this year is Superintendent Dr. Jeff Butts. The parade announcer is retired local country radio icon JD Cannon who will entertain parade goers from J & F Auto parking lot.
Police will close Raceway Road to Tansel Road starting at 10:30 am for the parade. The parade will start at 11 am going south on Raceway, turning east onto Crawfordsville, and travel south on Tansel to the Lions Club Park. The Festival begins as soon as the parade ends in the park, is free and will feature live music, vendors, food, and activities for children.
In the community Building activities will include Kids Vision Screening, Kids ID services, bake sale and other things. Outside we will have bounce houses, a variety of vendors, pony rides and Blue Grass music. There will be a jump rope performance by the Avon Aerial Orioles.
The 68th Annual Clermont Rodeo will start with a free family preview hour at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the actual rodeo starting at 7:30 pm. The National Anthem will be sung by Samara McNary, a student attending the Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center of Wayne Township Schools.
Ambulance & EMT services are provided by the Wayne Township Fire Dept.
The concession stand opens at 5:30 pm with a variety of food, candy, drinks and our World Famous Ribeye Steak sandwiches.
This year’s event put on by the Xtreme Roughstock Stock contractor will include Barrel Racing, Bronc Riding, & everyone’s favorite BULL RIDING
Clermont is the last stop on the “Xtreme Roughstock Tour and a champion will be crowned.
Shawn Minor, a 24 times Bronc Riding Champion is scheduled to appear as well as Tyler Fiddler a Championship Bull Rider.
A schedule of events as well a concession stand menu will be included in our program.
Day of show tickets is $12 for adults, 12 years old and older, $8 for kids 11 years old and under, with ages 4 and under free. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.
